Q&A with Dr. John Martin IV
Dr. John Martin IV is a board certified dermatologist and a native Texan. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Dr. Martin completed medical school at the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio with Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism honors.
He was kind enough to answer a few questions about himself for us.
What drew you to the field of dermatology?
It provides a mixture of complex skin problems to think through and procedures that allow you to use your hands.
What’s the most satisfying aspect of your job?
Having the opportunity to cure patients from skin cancer and teach them how to prevent it.
What do you recommend to all of your dermatology patients?
Monitor your moles and wear sunscreen!
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Hanging out with my wife and kids, playing guitar and being outdoors
Tell us three things about you that may be surprising.
- I grew up on the Texas-Mexico border and speak fluent Spanish.
- I love art and enjoy painting.
- I used to team rope in high school and enjoy watching rodeo.
What are your long-term goals?
Have a long successful career, do some traveling and send my kids to Texas A&M!
